How the New Zealand trick works for MW4
Modern Warfare 4 unlocks at midnight in each region on 23 October 2026. New Zealand (UTC+13 in October) gets there about 17 hours before the US East Coast. Guides from Dot Esports, Insider Gaming and Game Rant describe the same idea: if both your Activision account and your console or store region say New Zealand, the game treats you as a New Zealand player.
- Sign in at activision.com, open your profile and set the country to New Zealand. Paste the address from the generator above if the form asks for one.
- Change your console or store region to New Zealand (Xbox: Settings › System › Language & region; PC players reportedly need the Xbox app or Microsoft Store copy).
- Restart the console or app, launch Modern Warfare 4 and check whether multiplayer is available.
- Switch everything back to your real country afterwards, before you buy anything.
Does it work on every platform?
Not reliably. The guides we read disagree: some say it works on Xbox and on PC through the Microsoft Store, and that Steam and Battle.net use one worldwide release time; others say some Steam and Battle.net players got in, and that PlayStation results are mixed. It covers multiplayer only, not Campaign or DMZ early access, because DMZ early access already opened worldwide on 20 October. Treat it as something that may or may not work for you.

Risks before you change your region
- Terms of service: Activision, Microsoft and Sony expect account details to be accurate. No source we found reports bans for this trick, but none rules it out either.
- Store and payment: a changed store region can show prices in New Zealand dollars and refuse your card. Change it back before buying anything.
- Region change limits: some stores limit how often you can change region.
- Ping: matchmaking may put you in Oceania servers, which means high latency from Europe or the Americas.
